You've Been Lied To . . . . .

There's really nothing new about that . . . . . Human history is full of 'leaders' telling their 'followers' what the followers want to hear; all too often the stories told have played on the brutal desires of the 'helpless masses'.

I have an enormous problem believing that the masses are all that helpless & innocent of culpability. The reality is that humans, en masse, are violent, that they love their horror shows & morality plays. Individuals may be more or less peaceful, but the mob regresses to the destructive level of the toddler in minutes. The witch-burnings, the inquisition, the crusades -- all may have been used to benefit this or that power structure, but the plebeians have been enthusiastic participants in their own scapegoating.

In this day & age, with so much information available, the mass ignorance that's enabled the scapegoating process is less & less excusable. Letting oneself be lied to is a two-way process much of the time, especially for adults. Educate yourself. Learn how to think critically, how to evaluate, gather & analyze data. It's difficult to deceive someone in a subject in which they're well educated, but quite easy to mislead someone in a subject they know little about.
